Jason Bertola is Executive Director, Commercial Development, Advanced Synthesis, Lonza. He joined Lonza in 2021, initially leading the drug-product commercial development group before transitioning to lead both sales and commercial development for drug substance and particle engineering in North America. 

He began his career in process development and manufacturing in Barbengo, Switzerland, with SAPEC (now Cerbios, a member of the HAS Healthcare Advanced Synthesis SA Group). He later relocated to the United States to complete his studies in chemistry. He then joined Hoffmann-La Roche’s pharmaceutical process development group before moving into commercial roles within contract development and manufacturing organizations. 

With over 30 years of diverse leadership experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Jason brings extensive expertise in contract development and manufacturing, strategy development, and business transactions. He holds a B.S. in Chemistry and an MBA and has authored several publications and delivered numerous presentations on pharmaceutical outsourcing and highly potent manufacturing.
