Suzanne (Suzie) M. Opalka, Ph.D., is an Associate Director in the Chemical Process Development Group at Biogen, where she is responsible for developing sustainable processes for early– and late-stage Biogen programs. She joined the chemical process development group at Biogen in 2013 and has over 10 years of experience in chemical process R&D. She has worked on a variety of programs, including developing batch processes at multi-ton quantities, small–volume high–potent compounds, and continuous processes at kilogram quantities. She is the currently Chair of the International Consortium for Innovation & Quality in Pharmaceutical Development (IQ) Drug Substance Leadership Group and a former Working Group Chair of the IQ DS Continuous Manufacturing Group. She holds a B.S. in geoscience, chemistry, and environmental studies from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Cornell University.
