Lu Chen, Ph.D. & M.B.A., is a Managing Director & Partner at Boston Consulting Group (BCG). She is a core member of BCG’s Health Care, Principal Investor & Private Equity, and Corporate Finance & Strategy practices. She is BCG’s Global and North America Lead for Transformation in Health Care. 

Lu has extensive experience serving Bio/Pharma and Life Science Boards, CEOs, and executive management teams in corporate strategy, growth strategy, capital allocation, corporate development and mergers and acquisitions, large-scale transformation, and turnarounds.  She also supports private equity funds in commercial and vendor due diligence across bio/pharma, generics, biosimilars, active pharmaceutical ingredient and CDMO assets. 

She holds a B.S. in microbiology from Fudan University in Shanghai, a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Texas Medical Branch, and an M.B.A. in healthcare management from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Before joining BCG in 2009, Lu worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Mayo Clinic and the Baylor College of Medicine, focusing on oncology research.
