Pravin M. Khandare
Chief Procurement Officer
Pravin M. Khandare is Chief Procurement Officer (CPO), Biogen, where he leads procurement of materials and services globally for Biogen, including all its affiliates. He is driving source-to-pay transformation, including process development and standardization, and restructuring category management, procurement operations, and Centers of Excellence to enhance capabilities and deliver superior value to the company’s businesses. Additionally, he implemented purchasing compliance and controls and is driving comprehensive raw materials risk-management programs.
Prior to joining Biogen, Mr. Khandare was Vice President, Janssen Supply Chain, Procurement, and Business Engagement Leader. In this position, he was responsible for procurement of pharmaceutical raw materials and category management of the construction, capital, and facilities services category. Before being part of Janssen Supply Chain, Procurement, he led chemical category management for all businesses of Johnson & Johnson (J&J). He was responsible for centralizing chemicals procurement and developing the global chemical category, including category strategies, supplier relationship management, risk management, and standardization of procurement practices.
Before joining J&J, Mr. Khandare worked as a management consultant at Kearney, where he led operational work, including operations integration, organizational design and restructuring, sourcing, and category management for global companies (Unilever, Rohm & Haas, Altria, Saint Gobain, and J&J).
He began his professional career as a research scientist at Occidental Chemical Corporation (OxyChem), where he developed chemical processes for novel specialty chemical products and helped commercialize several key products at the Oxy’s Niagara Falls chemical plant.
He holds a M.S. and Ph.D. in chemical engineering from West Virginia University and a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Bombay’s Department of Chemical Technology. He also holds a M.B.A. from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.
