Patrick Y. Yang, PhD

Patrick Y. Yang, PhD, is a pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industry consultant, now serving on several boards and formerly Executive Vice President of Technical Operations for Juno Therapeutics, Roche and Genentech. He was most recently Executive Vice President and Strategic Advisor, Juno Therapeutics, a Celgene company. Dr. Yang had previously served as Juno’s interim Executive Vice President for Technical Operations. Before serving in this role, Dr. Yang was Roche’s Executive Vice President and Global Head of Technical Operations (2010 to 2013), where he was responsible for Roche’s pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing operations, process development, quality, technical regulatory and supply-management functions.
Before joining Roche upon its acquisition of Genentech, Dr. Yang worked as Executive Vice President, Product Operations of Genentech. Prior to joining Genentech in 2003, Dr. Yang spent 11 years at Merck & Co., Inc. in various leadership positions, including vice presidential roles in manufacturing and supply-chain management. Dr. Yang also spent 12 years at General Electric, serving in various research, engineering, technology, and manufacturing leadership roles.
Dr. Yang currently serves on the Board of Directors of Codexis, PharmaEssentia Corporation, Amyris, Acepodia, and Taiwania Capital Management Corporation. Dr. Yang earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from the National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan, a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and a PhD in engineering from Ohio State University.
